The Hipodromo RaceCourse, is located
close to Fuengirola and Mijas, just off the A7 highway, The Hipodromo
(racecourse) makes an entertaining day out for the whole family.
Entrance and ample car parking is free. Most of
the racecourse is new, well planned and well organised. Make sure
you obtain a brochure at the entrance gate when you arrive. If you
arrive late, you may not be able to get a brochure.
The course features two 25m wide sand tracks
of 1,700m and 1,600m and an athletics track. There is a 30,000m2
plaza with seating
for 2,000 with a direct view of the track. A selection of bars
and restaurants are available and if you take your pets, there
is a special pet hotel that takes care of them during your stay.
Although you will find many people who dedicate
their lives to the sport, we found that the atmosphere was relaxed
and had a definate
family feel to it. You do not have to bet if you don't want to
and you will not feel out of place. It makes an excellent day out
for the whole family. Feel free to take your own cool box with
drinks and lunch if you wish. You will save money as the food was
quite expensive.
Programmes and brochures are in English and Spanish so you will
soon grasp the betting method. Staff at the information desks spoke
English and were more than happy to answer any questions.
